People by the Sea

The Palestinian Museum has asked me to make an art installation for their exhibition “A people by the sea”that could make the connection between the experience of the sea by Gazan children who live next to it and children in the Westbank who can see the sea but of whom most of them will never reach it.
This project, in collaboration with HOPE Foundation, resulted in a transparent installation that resembles the waves of the sea but standing up like a wall. On this sea-wall, origami boats and figures are placed that carry calligraphed stories from children in Gaza. During the exhibition, children in the Westbank are invited to add their stories in the shape of boats to the ones from Gaza. In this way the artwork keeps growing and changing.
