Head in the Clouds

This installation has been created for the Be-ssst project from Citizenne in Brussels
Five cloud-like sculptures will be placed in the public space in Brussels city center. Passerby’s can stand with their heads in these clouds where they find a quiet place that takes them out of the busy surroundings. The outside of the clouds are shaped of recycled plastic bottles that play with the sunlight and make a soft rustling sound in the wind. The inside is covered in a soft and soundproof material that brings the spectator in a comfortable and more silent environment.
Mounted in these little domes is a periscope (a construction with two opposite mirrors) that is directed at something beautiful, surprising or peaceful in the surroundings that you normally might pass without noticing. Hereby I want to shift the focus from the chaos of the city to the little beauties that can be found there.

Head in the Clouds can be seen at different locations in Brussels until the end of september 2015. At this moment they are hanging at Boulevard du Jardin Botanique (in front of the finance tower), at the Broukére (opposite hotel Metropole) and at Sainctelettesquare.
