After working in Gaza for many years it deeply pains me to see these wonderful people being whipped out by the thousands and Gaza being destroyed in countless ways. Beside the loss of the people and infrastructure in Gaza, almost all the heritage sites, some of them thousands of years old, have been totally erased from the face of the earth. Although the buildings and artefacts are lost forever, the heritage will keep living within the people.
This bowl represents, that even by heavy force and destruction, a culture cannot be easily eradicated. On the edges of the bowl the traditional pattern might be shattered but in the centre it still remains intact and preserves its beauty.
